Latest news - Helpers web interface launched
Helpers, http://helpers.shl.lon.ac.uk, a new web interface designed to open up archival and manuscript collections in the University of London to family and local historians and other public library users, has just been launched. Helpers is a key part of the Accessing our Archival and Manuscript Heritage project, funded by the former Electronic Access to Resources in Libraries (EARL) Consortium and the Laser Foundation (URL) to provide access for lifelong learners to resources held in Higher Education libraries.
Helpers contains descriptions of archival and manuscript collections held in Senate House Library, University of London (URL) and other libraries in the University of London which are of particular interest to family and local historians. Tutorials on how to use the collections and undertake research in higher education libraries complement the collection descriptions.
Seminars and other publicity events are being organised to promote Helpers. Please follow the link directly to the Helpers web interface to see the latest information. Further information about the Accessing our Archival and Manuscript Heritage project is available on this website.
The project is funded by the former Electronic Access to Resources in Libraries (EARL) Consortium for Public Library Networking and the LASER Foundation.
Senate House holdings of interest to family and local historians
You can download a copy of a document describing our holdings that we believe are of interest to family and local historians. Note that this is a 'work in progress' and we will update it from time to time. Also note that it is nowhere near a comprehensive list of our holdings.
