World Education Fellowship
Overview
Contextualising information about teachers in progressive schools. Probably not a useful archive for finding information about individual pupils from progressive schools. May give useful local history information about individual schools.
Detailed usage description
The World Education Fellowship promoted progressive, child-centred education internationally. The archive contains the records relating to the administration of the fellowship, records of the conferences they held, audio tapes of personal reminiscences of some of the members of the fellowship, and publications, pamphlets and newsletters.
If you know you have a relative who was a teacher in a progressive school or who was involved in the progressive school movement then you may find contextualising information about them here. If you had a relative who was a pupil at a progressive school then it is not very likely that you will find information about individual pupils, but if you know which school they attended then you are likely to be able to find background information about the school.
How to tell if the collection is useful
The collection is indexed, but the index is only available to the archivists. You should email a query to the giving the following minimum information about the relative you are tracing:

- the dates you believe they taught there.
If you plan to email the archivist with a query we suggest that you read our tutorial on how to do this most effectively.

You typically need to demonstrate that you are conducting genuine research (which you do by emailing a valid query to the ) and bring some form of identification with you if you visit the archive. The location of the archives and its precise access arrangements are listed on the Institute of Education Information Services website.
