Getting started
You have obviously already opened Helpers in your web browser and found your way to the tutorials. To navigate around the site you should use the menu system above. If it doesn't appear to be working you should see the technical issues guide.
There are three sections to the site:
- Helpers descriptions -- the searchable/browsable database of descriptions. This is the heart of the site.
- Tutorials -- this set of guides to how to use the site and more general tutorials on how to conduct effective local and family history research.
- Links– lots of people have put together enormous amounts of online material (particularly for family historians) and we pick out and point you at what we consider to be the most useful.
Before going any further it is important to understand what information is contained in a 'Helpers description'. This is described in the next guide.
